As
both a motorcyclist and a sailor, Rick Weber’s experience
is extensive. Beginning when he was 12 years old, riding
and repairing motorcycles have filled Rick’s life
richly. As a BMW factory trained technician at the dealership
level since the early 1980's and running his own repair
shop for 10 years after that, he has been involved in the
industry in many forms. As a rider he has logged several
hundred thousand miles across two continents and all of
New Zealand. As a racer at the local and national level
he was ranked 2nd in the California and 5th in the Nation,
competing in the prestigious “Battle of the Twins”
class, winning six thousand dollars in 1984. Later he won
several events in AHRMA (American Historic Racing Motorcycle
Association) vintage classes.
As
a sailor Rick had another career beginning in 1975 sailing
square rigged ships, private yachts and commercial tugs
throughout the Atlantic, Carribean, and Pacific Oceans,
with two passages through the Panama Canal. After getting
his 100 ton Master’s licence in 1999 he went on to
skipper yachts across the Pacific, Atlantic, and Mediterranean
Sea. Currently working in the Charter trade on San Francisco
Bay he also runs his own boat for the film industry and
marshaling swimming events.Following his father and brother’s
lead in the broadcast and film industry, Rick has a done
well with his understanding of what it takes to “get
the shot” and getting the most out of his equipment.
